Adult MultispecialtyA 49-bed unit with cardiac telemetry monitoring capabilities. Patient population is a combination of medical and surgical patients with common diagnoses of sepsis, COPD, pneumonia, asthma, surgical, stroke, diabetes, congestive heart failure and chest pain evaluation.
Adult MultispecialtyThe unit provides care to stable adult patients. Nurses care for various patients that include: medical, orthopedic, medical telemetry, hospice, oncology, renal, and general surgery.
Adult OncologyAcute care of medical, gynecological and surgical oncology patient population that allows for a unique bonding experience in patient care. This unit also has a transplant program and a separate blood and marrow transplant unit.
General Medicine
The General Medicine Unit provides foundational nursing practice in medical/surgical patient care. Patient care opportunities include wound care, transition from step-down acuity, pre/post-surgical care, respiratory care, and end-of-life care. There is a collaborative staffing model to include RNs and LPNs in a 38-bed unit.
A four-unit inpatient psychiatric hospital caring for patients of all ages with varying mental health disorders. North Wing: General adult unit providing interdisciplinary care for a wide range of behavioral health issues. Intensive Management Unit: Provides care for those with more severe mental health problems. South Wing/Gero: Behavioral Health care for older adults. Child and Adolescent: Treats behavioral health problems for children ages 6-17.
A specialty focused on the treatment of heart failure patients. Patient population also includes pre and post cardiac cath, NSTEMI, arrhythmia management, and patients with advanced respiratory disease.
Coronary Intervention and Recovery Unit (CIRU)
Acute care of patients with a primary diagnosis related to the heart. The patients are pre- and post-CCL/EP lab interventional cases such as PCIs, TAVR, Watchman, Ablations, and device implants.
CV and Monitored Surgery
Specialized care unit focusing on the post-operative management of cardiac and thoracic surgery in a progressive level of care; this patient population includes cardiac telemetry, arrhythmia management, cardiac infusions, chest tube and PCA management; CV and Monitored surgery manages the post-operative care of any major surgery requiring telemetry monitoring to include pre/post CABG and thoracic surgical management of lines, drains and wound care therapy.
Acute medical, surgical and interventional management of patient care after surgery or emergent admissions.
Various patient management scenarios that require cardiac monitoring and titration of vasoactive drips. Beginning in the fall of 2021, this unit will begin to provide care for organ transplant patients, the first patient population will be kidney transplant recipients as well as donors.
Acute care of the neurosurgical and neurological patient population, including ischemic strokes, intracranial hemorrhages, endovascular patients, trauma patients, spine surgeries, craniotomies, and seizures.

36-bed adult unit in a Primary Stroke Center offering a mix of patient diagnoses and care needs. The surgical population includes but is not limited to GYN, plastic, urologic, general, orthopedic, and minimally invasive. Our nurses are progressive uptrained, ACLS certified, arrhythmia and stroke certified with multiple opportunities to be involved with PI projects and committees including an active unit council.
Acute care for cardiac dysrhythmias, sepsis, acute renal failure, GI bleeding, stroke care requiring telemetry and vasoactive medication administration.
Acute care for adults with actual or potential life-threatening medical/surgical conditions. May also include non-acute cardiac and non-cardiac chest pain patients monitored via remote cardiac monitors.

A 24-bed unit that utilizes cardiac monitoring for every patient. Patient population includes patients on cardiac drips and assistive respiratory care. This unit performs various bedside procedures and therapies.
Supports acute post-operative care for orthopedic, ENT and internal medicine admissions. Also supports geriatrics, pediatrics, and palliative care.
Post-operative care of elective surgery patients including total joint replacement/orthopedics, Women’s/GYN, ENT, plastics, and general surgery.
A 28-bed unit that incorporates an adult, patient-centered bedside care team who partners with USC Family Medicine group to care for a wide variety of medical illnesses.
Acute Care for the Elderly
A newly renovated 26-bed medical surgical unit, with the capability to provide telemetry to meet the needs of adult, hospitalized patients. A typical ACE appropriate patient is 65 years or older and has the ability to walk and function independently with little to no assistance.
Cardiac Stepdown
This 21-bed unit is the step-down unit for CVICU & CCU. The primary population consists of patients who have undergone cardiothoracic surgical procedures including CABG, Valve replacement, TAVR and LVAD.
Cardiac Telemetry
Care for primary diagnoses to include CHF, MI, cardiac arrhythmias and treatments to include procedural and pharmaceutical interventions.
Clinical Decision
The Clinical Decision Unit is a 20-bed, cardiac telemetry capable observation unit. The patient population consists of 100% observation patients (patient stay of less than 24 hours) with primary diagnoses of CVA/TIA, chest pain/acute coronary syndrome, as well as a wide variety of other disease processes.
General Adult Acute Care/Nephrology
Nurses on this unit are specially trained to administer peritoneal dialysis to patients on the unit and throughout the hospital. This unit provides acute care for medical and surgical patients along with telemetry monitoring capabilities.
Heart Failure Accountable Care
This 20-bed Heart Failure Accountable Care Unit (ACU) is the first in the nation with the goal of reducing the 30 day readmission rate for heart failure patients through patient education and reinforcement of self-care behaviors from staff. Patients are typically experiencing acute heart failure decomposition who may require organ transplantation or mechanical support.
Medical Nursing
Acute care treatment for a variety of clinical scenarios from sickle cell crisis to pelvic fractures and GI bleeds. This unit supports overflow for Neuroscience patients and offers telemetry if needed.
Medical Surgical/Oncology
Provides comprehensive care to the oncology and general acute care patients. The unit provides initial treatments for newly diagnosed and ongoing treatment for cancer patients such as chemotherapy and symptom management for patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Neuroscience and Stroke
A 32-bed telemetry unit providing care for neurosurgical patients such as craniotomy, fusions and VP shunts as well neuro patients suffering from disorders such as seizures and stokes.
Orthopedics
Post-surgical care for patients with total hip and total knee replacements. The unit also cares for patients with various other orthopedic injuries, spinal surgeries and patients requiring care post-traumatic injury.
Richland Springs
Richland Springs is a 26-bed inpatient offsite unit for Behavioral Health patients on the Prisma Health Richland campus. Unit provides care for patient’s ages 18 years old and older. Patients present with acute psychosis, suicidal or homicidal ideations, depression, and/or substance abuse or dependence problems.
Surgical Trauma Nursing
A 30-bed medical surgical unit primarily geared towards adult patients requiring care after experiencing traumatic injury typically requiring surgical intervention. Examples of these patients include those with injuries related to gunshot wounds or other penetrating injury, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls.
This unit offers cardiac monitoring and progressive care with a patient population that includes patients on cardiac drips and assistive respiratory care. This unit performs various bedside procedures and therapies.
Medical nursing is a 24-bed medical/surgical unit that serves a diverse population of patients including, but not limited to, patients with multisystem dysfunctions and infectious diseases in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Comprehensive adult acute care unit that supports a diverse patient population with care for patients with acute and chronic kidney failure. This unit also treats patients with other complex diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart and lung diseases.
Observation unit with patient monitoring for an average stay of 18-36 hours in a fast-paced environment. The nurse will drive results and manage symptoms to transition the patient home.
A 24-bed unit focused on providing exceptional patient care for a mixture of oncology, hematology and med/surg patients.
Acute surgical post-op care for patients recovering from total joint surgeries, general surgeries, urology and plastics cases.
