The emergency department service line is offered at these Prisma Health facilities.


Emergency Department: This emergency department is located in downtown Columbia and provides care for patients of all ages for a wide variety of emergency conditions. There are 36 beds with 8 designated spaces for behavioral health.  

Emergency Department: Provides top-quality emergency medicine by caring for more than 35,000 patients annually. This emergency department provides care for the adult and pediatric population for a variety of emergency conditions.

Baptist Parkridge Hospital

Emergency Department: Located in northwest Columbia, the 24-bed Emergency department and 6 chair Rapid Treatment bay offers treatment to patients of all ages for a wide variety of emergencies.  

Children’s Emergency Center: A 15-bed unit that serves the community and surrounding areas from newborn to age 17. It is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center which cares for the sickest children in our region as well as those with lower acuity needs.

ED-Behavioral Health: RN role will include working with behavioral health patients in both the adult and pediatric ED. Team members will learn to manage patients with acute behavioral health needs, assist with stabilization of patients, and work towards appropriate discharge planning. This position functions closely to our ED psychiatrists and case management teams to allow for more holistic care of this vulnerable patient population. Ongoing assessment skills, lab draws, medication administration, and documentation will be completed regularly in an effort to maintain quality care. 


Emergency Trauma Center: Greenville Memorial Medical Center’s Emergency Trauma Center is a Level 1 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Accredited Chest Pain Center. The unit consists of 78 beds including a 7-bed behavioral unit. It has the ability to see all types of patients and provide specialized interventions. 

Greer Memorial Hospital

Emergency Department: This is a 25-bed unit with an annual volume of 36,000 patients and designated as a Primary Stroke Center. 

Hillcrest Hospital

Emergency Department: This unit is an 18-bed emergency department that sees approximately 30,000 patients a year. The ED sees a variety of acuity levels and will transfer specialized needs to Greenville Memorial Hospital. 

Laurens County Hospital

Emergency Department: A 16-bed emergency department and 7-bed  Behavioral Health Unit. This emergency department has the second highest acuity in the system and is located in a rural community hospital.


Emergency Department: A 19-bed emergency department that sees a variety of diagnoses in the adult and pediatric population. 
Children’s Emergency Center: The Children’s Emergency Center is located inside the adult emergency department and has 13 beds that care for patients newborn to age 17.  

Emergency Department: A Level 1 Trauma Center in downtown Columbia, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The unit consists of 76 beds including a 12-bed behavioral unit. Richland has the ability to treat all types of patients and provide specialized interventions. 

Emergency Department: The unit consists of 23 beds with monitoring capabilities, a 3-bed trauma room and provides treatment to both the adult and pediatric population.
